Rounding Cape Horn

I’m delighted to share with you my recent painting “Rounding Cape Horn” I painted this on Saturday and it is the 28th in a continuing series exploring the spirit of adventure in all of us. Distant shores, great voyages, friendships rekindled and quiet moments of joy on reflection of the wonders of our world.

Day 64

Since our meeting we rested for a day and both basked in the joy of company for the first time in months.

We set sail in the morning and by late afternoon were greeted with the shark’s teeth landmarks of Cape Horn. Chile’s southern most point this was a place with an ominous reputation for claiming her fair share of vessels.

I told Rayna of my undersea visits and the surprising friendliness of the reef and canyon dwellers. She smiled knowingly and offered to join me on my next outing.

I gladly welcomed the company and looked forward to the next dive. It would be some days before we would reach warmer more gentle seas and we spent hours looking at the map and deciding where we would stop along the way.

I loved the way her green eyes sparkled when she talked of where our voyage would take us. So much further to go, it would be easier now and much would be revealed along the way…
